Job for the Boyes

Having failed its January 2011 OFSTED Inspection, the Interim Executive Board (IEB) at Moseley School is advertising for a permanent Head Teacher for Moseley School. So much for Moseley School being in safe hands.

Will the controversial current Interim Head Teacher, Tim Boyes or one or two of his unlawfully appointed Deputies apply for the post?

Will Thelma Probert OBE sit on the Interview Panel? Readers will recall that Thelma Probert OBE used to be a long serving Head Teacher of Golden Hillock School where the best that she ever delivered was 24% for five GCSE passes grades A*-C including English and Maths. In other words, more than 75% of pupils did not make it on her watch. She had a Deputy called Mr. T. Boyes. Soon after Tim Boyes was appointed as Head of Queensbridge School, Ms. T. Probert OBE was appointed as the School Improvement Partner of Queensbridge School. When the Moseley School Governing Body was removed, Tony Hapless Howell appointed a Ms. T. Probert OBE as the Chair of the Interim Executive Board of Moseley School. When this longstanding relationship was brought into the public domain, Ms. Probert OBE resigned as Chair with immediate effect. Maybe she resigned because she suspected the school was in danger of failing its OFSTED Inspection? Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Will two Birmingham City Council officers, Andrew Dixon or Denise Cutting - who were involved in the unlawful appointments of not one but two school deputies for Moseley School - be sitting on the Interview Panel and how exactly did Andrew Dixon legalise their controversial appointments, assuming that such a thing is even possible?

If so, then is it worth any high flying candidate bothering to apply and will it be a simple case of Job for the Boyes? Afterall, in 2009 the Moseleians Association published a webpage stating:

  • The announcement of the establishment of a hard federation with Queensbridge School.
  • Association members may be concerned at the possibility that Moseley's unique identity may be subsumed into a blandly anonymous amalgamation.
  • Moseley School was fortunate to secure the inter regnum services of another highly regarded City school Head, in Tim Boyes (from Queensbridge), whose appointment as head of the enlarged school has now been made permanent.

Where did the Moseleians Assocation get the idea that Tim Boyes had been appointed permanent head? Answers on a postcard to Cllr. Les Lawrence or The Revd Jackie Hughes. Warning: Truth is in the Eye of the Beholder!
