Stop Moseley School from becoming a Trust School involving Queensbridge School
The Interim Head Teacher Tim Boyes instigated the removal of the Moseley School Governing Body.
The Governing Body was a democratic institution of 17 Governors that was representative and diverse of the community served by the School. It included five doctors and four former pupils.
It was removed to facilitate the takeover of Moseley by Tim Boyes and High Performing Specialist Status School, Queensbridge School.
The Governing Body was removed because it would not agree with Tim Boyes and Birmingham City Council (Tony Howell) to establish a Hard Federation with Queensbridge School or make Moseley School into a Trust School with Queensbridge. This would have effectively resulted in Queensbridge School taking over and dis-empowering all of the stakeholders of Moseley School.
More importantly, in 2009, Queensbridge’s results for five GCSEs including English and Maths dropped dramatically to 30%. Moseley’s results increased to 33%. The logic for Queensbridge’s takeover is bonkers. It has nothing do with raising standards and attainment but the pursuit of personal agendas.

The Moseley School Governing Body fought for what was in the best interests of 1350 pupils, 800 parents and 200 staff of Moseley and not for what was in the best interest of Tim Boyes.
Teaching Unions are opposed to Trust Schools. Moseley School’s enormous assets (land and buildings) will be taken from community ownership and transferred to the Trust.
The Governing Body has been replaced by an Interim Executive Board (IEB). There is NO parent representation and NO teacher representation whatsoever on the IEB.
No Education Without Parent and Teacher Representation
Tim Boyes and Birmingham City Council do not want parents to have any say or strategic input into the future of Moseley School.
The Governing Body had positions for six Parent Governors. Now there is NONE. This shows utter contempt for parents who have not even been consulted or notified about the removal of the Governing Body and its replacement by an IEB.
Moseley School – a prestigious community school with its own unique and proud history – should have its own permanent Head Teacher and its own representative and diverse Governing Body that can build on last year’s improved GCSE results.
Moseley School needs to be free and independent from Tim Boyes and Queensbridge School. Moseley School needs to have its own permanent Head Teacher. It is unacceptable that Moseley School has not had its own Head Teacher for over a year now.
Tim Boyes has expressed unacceptable and outrageous views and comments to elected members and community leaders – that undermine Community Cohesion. It is not in the best interest of stakeholders of Moseley School that he should continue.
