For the first time in its recent history, Moseley School achieved 33% for five GCSEs including and Maths. This is 3% above the government's national floor target. In 2010, Moseley School is expected to do even better than in 2009.

Over the last six years, thirteen secondary schools have performed worse than Moseley School but Birmingham City Council is not proposing a radical structural solution for some of these schools.

This is because Birmingham City Council is applying a policy of double standards across the city.

Shenley Court Specialist Arts College and Sixth Form Centre went back 2% and has yet to hit 30% for five GCSEs including English and Maths.

Kingsbury School and Sports & Enterprise College went back 5% and has yet to hit 30% for five GCSEs including English and Maths.

The Four Dwellings High School improved in 2009 but is still yet to hit 30% for five GCSEs including English and Maths.

The College High Specialist Arts School has yet to hit 30% for five GCSEs including English and Maths.

The International School & Community College, East Birmingham has yet to hit 30% for five GCSEs including English and Maths.

Castle Vale School and Specialist Performing Arts College still stuck at 22% for five GCSEs including English and Maths.

Frankley Community High School has yet to hit 30% for five GCSEs including English and Maths.

Kings Norton High School has yet to hit 30% for five GCSEs including English and Maths.
 

The question that parents and community should ask is what is special about Moseley School that its Governing Body should be removed and Moseley School should become a Trust School when the Governing Body under new and representative leadership instigated long overdue improvements at Moseley School resulting in better academic attainment in 2009?
